Foreign language e-course as informal learning tool for digital literacy development.

Abstract

The changes of the world knowledge acquisition paradigm have resulted in the necessity of the new, blended education forms, the process being at the same time impeded by the low level of learners’ digital literacy. The peculiarities of practical teaching needs and challenges of the new tutoring standards have been met in the tailored course “Famous people”, designed and introduced in Southern Federal University. Learning foreign language through distant courseshould help to create comfortable environment for informal learning. That adds to the scope of tutor responsibilities and proficiency, some aspects of which being only revealed in the practical application experience.
