Diagnosis of education and nutritional management in older adults: case study.
Abstract
The study diagnosed the education and nutritional management in women older than 60 years of a Cuban polyclinic, using observation, measurement and interviews, in observational, cross-sectional, and ambispective research. General data were processed, physical and laboratory tests were carried out, as well as clinical diagnoses, evidencing a relatively young population (69 years) for this age group; conjugal accompaniment prevailing (72%); hypertension (90%) and overweight or obesity (50%). The inadequate use of wages and the availability of transportation, as well as the impact of price increases on food products and the remoteness of markets, needing to live with a stable partner, having micro-gardens and taking advantage of food fairs and street vendors, evidenced difficulties in education and nutritional management.
