Abstract

in the Middle Ages, franchises have the distribution of goods and services in most industrial sectors and transformed the retail landscape, expanding rapidly at the international level. They currently represent more than 3 million of outlets, which employ about 21 million workers, integrated in about 40,000 franchise systems. They turned into an alternative for individuals to start their own businesses, with lower risks, less expensive and with greater opportunities to access financing. This presentation aimed to examine the origins, distinctive features.
