Abstract

Poor social policies within Latin American countries, coupled with precarious management of prison systems, have caused terrible problems within prisons, reflected in overcrowding, unhealthiness, violence, among others problems that lead to a galloping prison crisis. This work reflects the reality of prison systems in Latin America, exposing serious shortcomings and their terrible consequences for those deprived of liberty and society at large. The objective of this research is to analyze the problems of prisons and prisons in Ecuador and Latin America and their influence on today's society.
