Abstract

This paper proposes the use of fuzzy cognitive maps in the representation of students' mental models. A procedure for obtaining mental models and their subsequent analysis using fuzzy cognitive maps is proposed. A case study is presented where the applicability of the proposal and the advantages of cognitive maps in the understanding of complex systems are illustrated. The paper ends with the conclusions and recommendations of future work.
