Proposal of English strategy for specific purposes (ESP) for medical students at UNIANDES Ambato.
Abstract
At present, specialty English has taken an important field in university education, specifically for medical students because of the terminology found in their specialty texts. This research proposes an English strategy with specific purposes "ESP" in an extracurricular context that contributes to the learning of medical technical English. The scientific and experimental method was applied, followed by the exploratory descriptive method of surveys and the validation method of experts. As findings, it was identified that the fourth and fifth levels of English equivalent to B1 and B2 of the Common European Framework are those that show better indicators of mastery of the "ESP", which would be the appropriate levels to start the proposed program.
