Abstract

The article covers the impact of alcohol consumption on mortality rates in Russia. It is shown that it is the state's interest in making a profit from the alcohol sales that has become one of the reasons for the inefficiency of numerous anti-alcohol reforms. The main areas, where the main state’s efforts to reduce alcohol consumption in Russia should be concentrated, are singled out. It is concluded that it is necessary to take into account the national peculiarities while implementing state measures of anti-alcohol policy.
