Impact of emotional intelligence on school performance: a theoretical review.
Abstract
Emotional intelligence (EI) is one of the necessary skills for life that must be taught and developed within the family, in schools, in organizations and everywhere (Salovey and Mayer, 2007). Its introduction in the educational system means offering answers from the classrooms to all dimensions: cognitive, behavioral and emotional, resulting in a better academic and social development of students. This work intends to carry out a theoretical revision of EI, to know the foundations on which it is based, its treatment and implications in improving school performance in secondary education. We will also try to check if their inclusion in the classroom is justified.
