Abstract

The research conducted is on the risk factors for mortality in pregnant women who are treated in the maternity ward of the Hospital General Docente Ambato. It was found that most of the deaths occur in low-income countries and that most of them could have been avoided with prior knowledge. It is qualitative and quantitative research, the first corresponding to a review of the literature and the second to field research, as a data collection instrument. The result was that the main mortality risks are due to their low economic level, and the degree of education that limits women and their families' knowledge of care before, during and after pregnancy.
