Abstract

The Kangaroo Mom Program was established at the Maternal and Child Institute of Bogotá in 1978, whose technique is to keep premature babies with low birth weight and stabilized in contact "skin to skin" with the mother to contribute to the integral development and thermal regulation of the newborn. The objective was to design a management guide aimed at the mothers of preterm newborns who are part of the Kangaroo Mom Program in the area of neonatology at Ambato General Teaching Hospital. With the implementation of the guide, the mothers evidenced to improve the quality of care provided to the infants and the knowledge about the benefits of the program was strengthened.
