The translation of unpleasant expressions and words from Spanish into Arabic: the case of the movie “El Cuerpo”.

Abstract

In the present work is an approach to the treatment, which generally receives expressions and unpleasant words (EPM) and the great complexity involved in the translation or adaptation of Spanish audiovisual products to the Arabic language and culture. This is a descriptive study based on the analysis of the translation of the foul language in the Spanish film "El cuerpo", whose main objective is to illustrate and determine which translation strategy predominates in the subtitling of this work: translation oriented towards the target culture or towards the culture of origin. Based on the results obtained, we will verify which of the two methods mentioned above tends to translate the taboo elements present in this film.
