Phonoaudiological intervention to improve the language skills of university students with disabilities.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to recognize the contribution of speech therapy intervention in the improvement of the linguistic skills of university students with disabilities who attend the inclusion unit of the Laica Eloy Alfaro University in Manabí. It is a quasi-experimental interventional investigation and the population consisted of 20 patients. Three instruments were applied: 1) To assess language difficulties, 2) to assess language levels, and 3) to assess levels of academic inclusion and social inclusion. The results showed that most of the students presented difficulties in speech, language and communication due to this their linguistic performance is affected. An intervention plan based on speech therapy rehabilitation techniques was applied.
