Development of self-care capacities in patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus.
Abstract
Self-care is the practice of activities performed by the individual to take care of their health, they are learned by the person in their sociocultural context. These activities are initiated voluntarily in order to maintain life and well-being. Within the promotion of health in diabetes education, consideration of self-care is important, since it relates to the actions taken by people for the benefit of their own health and includes the practice of physical exercise, proper nutrition and self-control. People with DMT2 have self-care deficits. The prevalence of self-care deficit is associated with individual factors and the health environment in terms of information provided by professionals.
