Hepatocellular carcinoma in a cirrhotic patient.
Abstract
The purpose of this case is to identify, through studies and imaging findings, the diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). HCC is the most frequent primary liver malignancy; this tumor is typically hypervascular and has a long phase of intrahepatic growth. The main risk factors are: chronic hepatitis B or C, cirrhosis and obesity. The methodology of data collection with clinical information from the patient was used, facilitating the development of the case from the analysis of research sources. The authors conclude that the clinic, the laboratory examination, the adequate imaging technique and the biopsy, associated with a correct and experienced observation in the radiological images, allow an accurate and timely diagnosis.
