Caries in the first definitive molar in adolescents of a public educational institution in the city of Portoviejo.
Abstract
The first molar is the first of the definitive dentition to erupt, it is considered more susceptible to the attack of caries, its destruction, as well as its loss, affects more than the occlusion, in the quality of life; therefore, a cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out by applying a survey to 150 students between 12 and 14 years of age. It was identified that the vast majority of adolescents have at least one first molar decay, the lower ones being the most affected. The oral health lifestyle of adolescents related to dietary habits and oral hygiene practices are not healthy, becoming the risk factor for these dental pieces to be affected by caries.
