Relationship between smartphone addiction, social media, alienation, and academic performance among undergraduate students.
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to show the relationship among social media and smartphone addiction of university students and their feelings of alienation and student academic achievement. The study adopted a descriptive method and a sample of 222 was drawn from the population of the undergraduate student of MU University College of Education and Human Development. This research uses descriptive and unconventional data to examine the statistics. The data were obtained from a review of 108 students and analysed by using the “Statistical Package for the Social Sciences” (SPSS). The study found that there is significant impact of alienation on social media addiction, but this addiction of mobile phone has small but positive effect on student’s GPA.
