The representation and claim of women in the narrative of Ángel Felicísimo Rojas
Abstract
The present work aims to analyze the representation and vindication of women in the narrative of Ángel Felicísimo Rojas; they stand out for their progressive spirit of struggle and rebellion. Example is in Doña Leonor, the protagonist of the book of stories “The bust of Doña Leonor: stories of youth”, heroine, who even against morality and good judgment, fought tirelessly to help a depressed Ecuadorian society of the twentieth century. Also, Juanita Villalba, in “The Exodus of Yangana”, who is a second-class student, with a reputation for an atheist, poisoned and skeptical, becomes an enlightened, intelligent, and free-thinking young woman who breaks with all the idealist and macho schemes of that time.
