Internet addiction and its influence on school and social performance of a sample of adolescents from Ibarra city.

Abstract

There are many benefits of technological advances that promote a new model of education, characterized by being more open and inclusive, but accompanying these advantages, there are also difficulties that must be known to help adolescents in their comprehensive development; therefore, the purpose of the study was to identify internet addiction and its influence on school and social performance. A quantitative, descriptive cross-sectional research was applied, the sample was of 339 adolescents of the third year of high school from the Schools of Ibarra city, to whom an internet addiction test questionnaire was applied, reaching the conclusion that the Internet addiction is present in young people and negatively influences school and social development.
