Abstract

The present work tries to identify the view of the Spanish press regarding relations with Chile, between 1970 and 1978, a period in which gradually there is greater freedom of the press in Spain. From the analysis of the peninsular press, it is concluded that in the period studied the tone of the Spanish press in its relationship with Chile changes, motivatedby practical and contingentconsiderations, over the greater or lesser ideological closeness. However, at the end of the period, these elements emerge more clearly.
