Abstract

The present investigation was carried out due to insufficient generalizing studies on the States that belong to the insular Caribbean. That is why the purpose of this material was to: analyze from a general point of view the economic, political, social, and environmental characteristics of the countries belonging to the Caribbean island basin. For this, scientific research methods were used. As main results, it was confirmed that the Caribbean develops in the 21st century on the basis of regional and subregional integration, which has had a notable impact on the development of tourism activity, the most dynamic in the region, prompting the search for alternatives that contribute to developing it sustainably in the face of global warming.
