Virtual Education in Mexico: an emerging challenge facing COVID-19.

Abstract

The cessation of presential activities is a first step to face an extreme sanitary emergency. This research identifies the appropriation state that Higher Education Institutions have on the virtual education. Presential and virtual educative programs addressed to students/teachers were compared. Institutions showeda preponderance of presential courses forstudents/teachers (>50%). Two institutions operate with their own virtual platform. Although virtual education has been integrated into institutions, specific skills development, innovation in teaching-learning strategies, and informatic resources are needed to guaranty the quality of distance education.This researchhighlightsthe advances and challenges that Mexico has to migrate presential education to virtual education in a prolonged state of absence scholar.
