Abstract

Postoperative acute pain is a subjective, multidimensional experience. To determine the control of postoperative pain from the application of nursing interventions to appendectomies, via laparoscopy at the Ambato Regional Teaching Hospital was the objective of the present investigation, being quali-quantitative, retrospective, cross-sectional, and explanatory. The variables studied were: age, sex, onset, intensity, pain control and nursing interventions, and the sample was made up of 99 patients who met the inclusion criteria. The onset of pain in the range of 7-12 hours was the one with the highest incidence (55.55%) of representativeness, coinciding with the ages of 41-64 years; moderate pain was more frequent in men (69.69%). There was a linear correlation between pain control and nursing admissions.
