Effects of occupational stress on health workers due to pandemic coronavirus in Ecuadorian hospitals.

Abstract

Health professionals work in a complex environment and there are multiple risk factors: high workloads, lack of equipment, risk of contagion, high levels of social and legal responsibility, etc. This work aims to identify symptoms related to work stress that lead to a negative impact on the psychophysical health of the health worker. 84 health professionals were evaluated Scale I Symptoms of stress: 52.4% present symptoms of stress; mild (16.6%), moderate (9.5%) and severe (26.2%). Scale II coping behaviors: 30.95% have coping problems. The results show that health professionals present symptoms of acute post-traumatic stress as a direct impact when providing care to those infected with COVID-19.
