Fundamental components of the attitude towards organ donation and transplantation.
Abstract
For organ donation and transplantation to take place, a positive attitude is necessary. With the objective of knowing the fundamental components of the positive attitude towards organ donation and transplantation, a descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted in an adult population in the municipality of Acapulco, Guerrero. The results show sociodemographic dimensions, knowledge, prosocial behavior, family, and culture as the main elements that explain the positive attitude towards organ donation and transplantation. However, it is necessary to intervene in the main actors of the donation process: the potential donor, the health personnel and the family, improving knowledge and introducing favorable feelings and emotions, the expected results will be improved in the organ donation and transplantation process.
