Abstract

The importance of this study lies in the generation of storm patterns that serve as the basis for the design of hydraulic and civil works. The general objective of this research is to produce synthetic hietograms in the micro-basin "El Progreso", Portoviejo, Ecuador. The methodology used was based on methods already known, using advancement coefficients (r) for the subsequent elaboration of the synthetic hietograms. Two data sources from different years are employed. As a result, two r values of 0.31 and 0.29 are found. The peak of the rain is before half the duration the storm. Future research will evaluate the sensitivity of the results with respect to the concentration time formulas.
