Factors that trigger depression in elderly people from Santiaguito Maxda community, State of Mexico.
Abstract
Depression in old age has a negative impact on the elderly quality of life, causing anxiety and variations in mood, which can become a major problem worldwide if not treated in time. The purpose of this study was to identify the factors that cause depression in the elderly in a community in the State of Mexico. A cross-sectional experimental quantitative research was carried out with a sample of 192 older adults, to whom a depression assessment scale (Yesavage Test), Katz Index, Lawton Index was applied, showing that 89% of the older adult population of the community, has some degree of depression.
