Social representations of mental health and mental disorders in university nursing students.

Abstract

The objective of the work is to determine the social representations of mental health and mental disorders of university nursing students; and for this, a mixed structural and procedural approach was used. The figurative nucleus of the representation of mental health in the concept of emotions was determined, while the social representations of mental disorders determined the concept of depression as the figurative nucleus of the representation. For the qualitative approach, 3 theoretical categories were found: 1. Social representations of mental health, 2. Social representations of mental disorders, and 3. Social representations of nursing in mental health.
