Abstract

The objective of this study was to translate and validate the Abortion Attitude Scale (AAS), an instrument with vignettes that analyzes the attitude of young people towards the decision-making of the voluntary interruption of pregnancy (VIP). The judging method with 19 judges was used for validation. The instrument was applied in a sample of 150 university students of health sciences. The results indicated the equivalence of the translation both by the judges and by the back translation, demonstrating an adequate internal consistency α = 0.91. The EFA identified two factors that represented 50.82% of the total variance, confirmed by a SEM model. It is concluded that the translation of AAS proved to adequately identify the factors involved in the VIP.
