The caregiver of the elderly in the semi-urban Cuban family.

Abstract

Aging is part of the life cycle of people, but today, there is an accelerated process of it worldwide. Cuba in Latin America is one of the countries with the highest number of people over 65 years of age. This reason led to an investigation of the issue related to the care of the dependent elderly adult in a semi-urban community in the municipality of Caimito, province of Artemisa. A bibliographic study was carried out and the characterization of families was carried out. The general objective is; "Propose a set of actions for the preparation of the family caregiver so that it favors the quality of life of the elderly". Theoretical, empirical, and statistical methods were used to make the proposal.
