Hydromorphological study of the La Mona, El Cady Basin and the risk of unforeseen floods.
Abstract
The work managed to simulate the hydrological behavior of the basin in an area where there are no studies of this type. The intensity-duration-frequency (IDF) curves were used for the construction of hietograms. With this information, a hydrological modeling system was applied with the HEC-HMS tool (version 4.6.1), and the QGIS 3.4 MADEIRA program to determine the morphological characteristics of the basin. Peak flows were obtained for return periods of 25, 50 and 100 years, respectively. This analysis is of great help for other hydrographic basins throughout the Ecuadorian region, since they have an important function in the ecosystem and they do not have hydrometeorological information.
