The objective was to discuss preferences in the use of traditional or technological tools during the data collection and analysis stages in qualitative research. Descriptive records and content matrices were used. The corpus was made up of 200 articles (2015-2020). The preferred data collection techniques were documentary analysis (19%) and the interview (17%), the selected tools: technological devices (6%), traditional resources (40%), and the findings indicate that the aggregated values of qualitative data analysis softwares are disregarded by most of the researchers in the study.
