Abstract

Drinking water service providers must dedicate efforts and resources to the determination and reduction of unaccounted for water; For this reason, this objective is transcendental for the search for the sustainability of the system, and it is thus with a strategic approach that consists of potentiating the management of real and apparent losses in the area supplied by the UTM tank in the drinking water system of In the city of Portoviejo, an ANC rate of 70% is estimated, based on a pilot reduction plan, and proposing good practices and proven strategies. It is projected to reduce the levels of unaccounted for water in a range between 35% and 30% in this area.
