Arterial hypertension and incidence of risk factors in older adults.
Abstract
High blood pressure in the elderly is increasing due to various factors related to their lifestyle. A comparative diagnostic study is carried out on risk factors for the highest and lowest rates of arterial hypertension in older adults in the Avelino Pamba and Norte neighborhoods. The study was non-experimental with a cross-sectional, descriptive, and explanatory diagnosis. The studied sample consisted of 20 patients over 60 years of age, where the highest percentage of hypertensive patients was represented by the female sex (60%). The main associated risk factors found in the patients were inadequate diet 45%, family inheritance 25%, sedentary lifestyle 20%, alcohol consumption 5% and tobacco consumption 5%.
