English as a means of instruction in the training of Spanish-speaking Physics teachers.
Abstract
The practical relevance of a specific non-native language in teaching has grown in recent decades; therefore, this empirical research proposes a methodology for the intentional design, gradual development and comprehensive evaluation of academic activities in English in the training of Spanish-speaking teachers. It was implemented at the University of Las Tunas. The selected sample was of 24 future Physics teachers, between the 2019 and 2021 school years. The proposed result is based on the foundations of English as a medium of instruction. As demonstrated, student understanding of the content is achieved. Simultaneously, they are able to develop specialized vocabulary and effective communication skills by communicating more frequently in English during activities.
