Abstract

Through a descriptive-qualitative study, the youth participation in the application of indigenous justice within the Kichwa Otavalo community is explained. Indigenous youth have the right to participate in decision-making and carry out social control at the public, private and community organizational level, being able to form part of the council in compliance with the requirements to develop within an administrative position. Indigenous justice is developed from cultural conceptions of what man is and the type of relationships that he should have with his fellow men; in this way the conflicts that arise can be resolved. Young people can decide not to include themselves in issues such as the application of indigenous justice.
