Abstract
This work presents the design, construction and piloting of a tool for the institutional diagnosis of gender in Higher Education Institutions (IES), consisting of a Preliminary File for self-diagnosis or rapid diagnosis of the incorporation of the gender perspective and thus carry out an initial rapid analysis of the institutions, identifying priorities and strengths in relation to a gender mainstreaming process. The file was made up of six axes: the perception of the gender perspective, institutional mission and vision, substantive university functions, organizational structure, budgets and working conditions. Its theoretical validation was based on a judge with experts in gender perspective issues, higher education institutions and organizational development.
