Abstract

This study presents an analysis of the satisfaction and importance of the strategies that contribute to university retention and permanence. The applied methodology uses a sequential exploratory design. The participants belong to a state public university in Sonora-Mexico; there were 6 board members, 4 teachers, and 367 students. 13 strategies were defined, the most valued by students being those related to scholarships and academic tutoring. In the quantitative analysis, strategies related to scholarships, teaching staff, program management, school environment, curriculum, and services stand out, while infrastructure and tutoring downplay them; therefore, comprehensive strategies and teacher performance are key to college retention.
