School adjustment and social skills in Mexican higher education students.
Abstract
The research was set as objectives: to identify the state of the school adjustment and social skills of Mexican university-level students; compare said variables by sex; recognize if there is a relationship between them; and evaluate if the social skills of the participants contribute to the explanation of their school adjustment. An incidental probability sampling made up of 1082 students was used. There were high scores in both tests and significantly high correlations between the variables studied. Regression models indicate that various social skills partially explain students' school adjustment. It is concluded that students' social skills play an outstanding role in their school adjustment, and it is recommended to promote educational actions to increase them.
