Effects of nutritional, behavioral and physical activity educational therapy in adolescents with overweight or obesity, Chosica, Peru, 2016-2017.

Abstract

The effect of educational-nutritional, behavioral therapy and physical activity in adolescents with overweight or obesity from the Application College of the National University of Education during 2016 and 2017 was evaluated. Quantitative, experimental type research, with quasi-experimental design. The sample, after a weight census, had 81 adolescents from the experimental group and 76 from the control group. At the beginning, the control was 83% overweight and 17% obese, the experimental 90% overweight and 10% obese. After the intervention, the experimental showed 66% overweight and 7% obesity, the level of nutritional knowledge and behavior was high 56%, those with low activity decreased (from 32% to 15%) and 17% started high physical activity. The positive effects of the therapy were demonstrated.
