Self-concept, life project and decision-making: diagnosis in institutionalized adolescents.
Abstract
Self-concept, the life project and decision-making take on special relevance in institutionalized adolescents. The objective is to analyze the self-concept and knowledge that institutionalized adolescents have about the life project, as well as to know the autonomy they assume to make decisions. It is a qualitative-phenomenological study, with interview, drawing and questionnaire techniques. The eight adolescents who make up the population of a shelter in Mérida, Yucatán participated. The results show that young people have little knowledge about the life project, a very poor self-concept and little capacity for autonomous decision-making. It is proposed to develop a program to promote self-concept, the life project and encourage young people to make decisions.
