Abstract

A descriptive correlational study was carried out in 173 students between 6 and 8 years old, 90 men (52%) and 83 women (48%) from a public primary school, with the objective of describing the Emotional State (EE) and the School Performance (RE), as well as the possible relationship between these two variables. EE was evaluated using the ESPQ personality questionnaire for children by Coan and Cattell (1993) and RE from an analysis of report cards. 69.4% of the students showed an “average” EE and 60.1% presented an “excellent” RE. The results show a positive and significant relationship between Emotional State and School Performance (rs = 0.312, p = 0.001).
