Hospital communication between health professionals and relatives of hospitalized patients: An integrative review.
Abstract
Hospital communication is a process of great importance in the professional-family relationship in modern care settings. The objective of this review is to explore the current state of communication between health professionals and relatives of hospitalized patients in support of medical care. The review used 6 international databases. The analysis and interpretation was based on the Evans and Dixon-Woods methodology. The results of 28 selected articles were grouped into four categories. 67.85% of the studies address communication in a diverse way and 32.15% with proposals for improvement. Expanding hospital communication through IT enables a prosperous relationship and environment for communication between those involved.
