Abstract

The objective of this work was to describe the profiles of emotional intelligence in teachers during the confinement situation due to COVID-19 with respect to the components of emotional intelligence: perceive, understand and regulate. A study with a comparative quantitative approach was carried out. The sample was non-probabilistic with 155 teachers with an average age of 40.41 years (SD = 9.76), 27.7% men and 72.3% women. The instrument used was the 24-item Trait Meta-Mood Scale. Through a cluster analysis, three profiles were identified: high (35.48%), moderate (41.29%) and low (23.23%) level of EI. The findings point to the need to include the development of emotional skills in the educational field to better cope with future adversities.
