Abstract

In Mexico, some of the leading causes of death are heart disease, diabetes mellitus, and malignant tumors. One of the risk factors related to the development of these pathologies is obesity. This is largely due to an unhealthy lifestyle, such as excessive body weight and physical inactivity. This type represents the majority of cases, and a large percentage of patients are overweight or obese at the time of diagnosis. The ineffectiveness of some of the strategies that have been implemented is due in large part to misinformation, low economic resources and, above all, the lack of interest related to self-health care in patients.
