The Psychology of Sport and the scientific research from the university in the stage of COVID 19. The resilience of athletes in the face of the challenges of the new normality.
Abstract
The sports university, faced with current challenges, conducts scientific research according to the demands of the context. The objective of this work is: to assess the role of scientific research in the study of resilience in athletes in the face of the challenges of the new normality. A single case study is carried out, using qualitative research, with an Olympic and world medalist athlete who suffered from COVID 19 and used resilient mechanisms. The methods used were the interview, analysis of official and personal documents, videos and the triangulation of sources and methods. The results and conclusions highlight the importance of research on psychological resilience to overcome adversity and adapt to the new normality.
