Suicidal ideation in adolescents from a psychosocial perspective.
Abstract
The general objective of this study is to carry out a discriminant analysis of suicidal ideation in adolescents based on individual, family, and school variables. 1687 adolescents participated, between 12 and 17 (M= 13.65. SD= 1.14) years. A cluster analysis and discriminant analysis were carried out. The results confirm that the variables that discriminate the group without suicidal ideation are family self-concept, satisfaction with life, open communication between mother and father, physical, social and academic self-concept, teacher help, emotional self-concept, school involvement and affiliation; on the other hand, the variables that most discriminate against the group with high suicidal ideation are the offensive communication of the father and mother.
