Assessment of basic developmental skills in preschool education.
Abstract
In order to characterize the basic skills of development in a group of preschool children from a public institution in Campeche, Mexico, a quantitative, cross-sectional and descriptive study was carried out in a population selected by convenience. Data collection was through a field diary, interviews and the Battelle Development Inventory. From the results, it is highlighted that all the participants presented significant gaps in at least one of the areas (personal/social, adaptive, motor, communication and cognitive), this when comparing the chronological ages against the equivalents; It was also found that the area that presented the best global development was the motor area and those with the greatest general lag were the areas: personal/social and adaptive.
