Effect of relative age and place of birth of Mexican professional football players.
Abstract
Football, like most sports, has been organized into categories according to chronological age, which causes age differences to appear between the participants, and this is known as the relative age effect. Our objective has been to identify if the effect of relative age is present in the professional football players of the Mx Female League. 529 football players from the 2020 closing tournament were analyzed. No significant difference was found in the quarter of birth of the players, but an overrepresentation was observed in the last quartile. There is also a significant incidence of the birth zone of region six (center of the country).
