Slowpitch in Mexico: an approach to sports practice through the gender of Sonoran women.
Abstract
Slowpitch is a form of softball, which in turn is derived from baseball. This study explores the phenomenon of slowpitch practiced by women in Sonora. The objective is to reflect on how a sport, historically practiced by men in the United States, impacted Mexican women in the second decade of the 21st century. A cross-sectional descriptive exploratory study was carried out, and for the statistical analysis, the SPSS v.22 software (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) was used. Interdisciplinary concepts are used, from the analytical category of gender, for the interpretation and discursive analysis that the surveys show. In that sense, this research makes visible the participation of Sonoran women in slowpitch.
