Academic stress and anxiety in psychology students.
Abstract
Academic stress and anxiety are present in all school grades; however, in university students their prevalence is usually higher. In order to characterize the prevalence of academic stress and anxiety-trait anxiety in psychology students, as well as the possible relationship between these two variables, a quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive and correlational research was carried out in 152 Mexican university students. For data collection, the following were applied: the Anxiety State-Anxiety-Rasgo Scale (IDARE) and the Academic Stress Questionnaire (CEA). The results show that 104 (68.4%) of the participants presented moderate levels of academic stress and 115 (75.7%) of them high levels of anxiety-rasgo. A positive correlation between the variables studied was also determined (rs = 0.368, p< 0.01).
